ACTIVITY DAY 2022

Date: 22 July 2022

Description:

“There needs to be a lot more emphasis on what a child can do instead of what he cannot do.” – Dr. Temple Grandin

Activity is an outlet for children to express their feelings and showcase their talents. “Every child is a different kind of flower, and all together make this world a Beautiful Garden.” BRS Global School, Bidaraguppe had a day of fun and activity, for Grade-I to Grade-VIII on 22nd July 2022. A variety of activities made the day interesting with new adventures.

Grade-I had Paper Craft. The children enjoyed making fans, boats and planes with colourful papers. Paper Crafts encourage children to draw, tear, glue and paint that promote dexterity. Grade-II enjoyed Rhymes with action in English, Kannada and Hindi. Rhymes are an important step in phonological awareness. Language skill and social skills are enhanced. Grade-III had Collage making which was lots of fun. Making a collage promotes creativity. It teaches experimentation with different resources, and socialising as children share their materials. Grade – IV had the activity – ‘Cooking without Fire’. Kids showcased their creativity by making healthy food items without fire. Making sandwiches, chaat dishes and salads, they learnt how healthy food can be made within a few minutes.

Grade-V had the activity- ‘Best out of Waste’. Children learnt how discarded materials can be used to make new things. They made attractive bags and pen holders using paper. This activity showed that recycling materials conserve resources, and reduces pollution.

Grade-VI had an interesting Debate on the topic ‘Junk Food vs Healthy Food’. Compelling arguments from both teams created awareness on the benefits of healthy food and the ailments that result from junk food. Debating is an excellent tool for critical thinking and public speaking.

Grade-VII had ‘Concept Drawing’. Concept based drawings are freehand drawings, done with a great and simple way of exploring initial ideas. They promote creativity.

Grade- VIII activity- “Advertising of School Stationery.” They made their own stationery items like highlighter, pencil etc and performed advertising them.

Advertising developed creativity as it is catchy and persuasive.

The teachers organised all the activities and guided the children. Prizes 1,2,3 promoted keen competition.

Activity Day broke the monotony of sitting in class. It also showed that a student who lacks in verbal expression can make up through Activity.

Activity builds confidence. Most of all it proved that play is not a luxury but a necessity.
