In India, the entire month of August is imbued with patriotic fervour, cultural ceremonies and religious observances. BRS Global School, which is ranked among the best CBSE schools in Sarjapur road, has always been upfront in celebrating all these occasions as the ethos of this school, strongly believes in cultivating communal harmony, social awareness, and holistic development for every student of this institution.

During a child’s academic journey, the involvement of parents plays a vital role in motivating the child’s efforts. Hence to reinforce this awareness, a student-parent event had been organised by BRS Global School, Kasavanahalli, on 24th August, 2024.

The event was categorized into three activities according to the grades. From Grade-I to IV, the activity was known as ‘Cooking Without Fire’. The objective of the event was to create a sense of sustainability by less energy consumption, by the preservation of food nutrients, by enhancing safety and by saving time. Overall, the activity was extremely enjoyable for the participating parents and their children.

From Grade V to VIII, a traditional activity known as “Flower Rangoli” was conducted. The importance of the activity was to embrace our traditionality in a creative, supportive and collaborative way.

From Grade IX to XII, the activity was known as ‘Ikebana’. The activity was all about the Japanese art of flower arrangement by cutting stems, leaves and flowers and decorating them in vases and containers. The three rules of Ikebana were also followed by the participating students by using the tallest ‘Subject Stem’ or Shin, the second tallest ‘Secondary Stem’ or Soe and the shortest one, the Object or Tai or Hikae. The aim of this activity was to develop mindfulness and patience, appreciating differences and diversities and aesthetically connecting to and respecting our Mother Nature.

Today the parents’ participation along with their children not only created a collaborative and joyful environment and also fostered a cohesive and a comprehensive educational expedition for the children.
