Bellandur Police, as part of the larger Bengaluru City Police’s community outreach, actively conducts awareness programs in schools, focusing on Road Safety, Cyber Crime, Drug Abuse, and Women/Child Safety, using initiatives like ‘Friends of Police’ to educate students on reporting crimes, digital responsibility, and making safe choices, fostering a safer community environment.
Current Awareness Programs (2025)
- Safety & Crime Prevention:Officers from the Bellandur Police Station, including the Police Inspector and Sub-Inspectors, conduct sessions on women’safety, drug abuse prevention, and cybercrime.
- Traffic & Road Safety:The Bellandur Traffic Police frequently visit schools and colleges to promote helmet use, lane discipline, and awareness of traffic violations.
- Protection of Rights:Specialized seminars cover the POCSO Act and “Good Touch – Bad Touch” to empower students to understand their rights and report unsafe behavior.
Key Interaction Topics
- Narcotics Awareness:Educating students on the long-term effects of drug use and resisting peer pressure.
- Reporting Tools:Training on using police apps and emergency services like Namma 112 for immediate help.
- Social Media Safety:Guidance on avoiding the sharing of personal information and identifying online threats.

Essential helplines like 112 Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), 1930 Cyber Fraud Helpline, 1933 Manas National Narcotics Helpline, 1908 Drug Abuse Reporting, 14490 Women’s Helpline, and 1098 Child Helpline were also discussed with the students.
The sessions ended with students being encouraged to take the Friends of Police pledge, committing to be responsible citizens, being vigilant against illegal activities, saying no to drugs, respecting women, and contributing to Bengaluru’s safety and harmony.
