The United Nation General Assembly declared June 5, World Environment Day in 1972. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the primary agency behind the celebration of Environment Day. It organises events for community gatherings and individuals, to create awareness to protect the World Environment Day is hosted by a different country each year. This year Sweden is the host country. The celebration will be around the theme “Only One Earth,” with focus on “living sustainably in harmony with nature.” The 2022 World Environment Day campaign calls for collective, transformative action. Time is running out. UNEP said, “We must go from harming our planet to healing it.”
As part of Environment Day celebration, students of BRS presented a small skit on “Save Trees, Save Earth.” Tree plantation is an important activity. Posters and slogans highlight the need to keep our Earth clean and green. Some of the things that we can do are:
- Save wate
- Reduce usage of paper which is mostly produce from timber.
- Opt for biking, walking, using electric vehicles.
- Say NO to plastics
- Trash things carefully
- Stop toxic emission
The impact of Global Warming in climate change is being widely seen. It is for everybody to do their bit to give the future generations a healthier environment to have a happier life.
