Good teaching does not automatically lead to good learning. This is evidenced by the fact of uninterested, disengaged children in classrooms. The learner- based curriculum places the child’s engagement at the centre and sees the teacher as a facilitates in the process. Activity based learning focuses on doing some hands-on experiments and activities. The idea of activity-based learning is rooted on the common notion that children are active learners rather than passive recipients of information. If a child is provided the opportunity to explore an optimum level of learning takes paces and becomes joyful and long- lasting. With these realisations BRS School Bidaraguppe organised a math workshop for its students.

Thinking is Fun, mathematically!

Workshop for BRS school was on 14th November 2022. The workshop was for Grade 5 and 6. It was conducted by Mr. Santosh Avvannavar. The students experienced how to improve their mathematical thinking skills. The workshop was based on the idea that thinking is fun, and that by engaging in active and playful activities children will be better able to engage with mathematics.

Students learnt how to think mathematically using activity-based learning (ABL) methods. The workshop encouraged students to use their imagination and explore different mathematical concepts through play.

The activity-based workshop provided loads of fun and learning. BRS is thankful to the management for organising the workshop and to Mr. Santosh Avvannavar for making it useful with fun-filled activities.
