On Monday, January 13, 2025, the Montessori Wing of BRS Global School, Sarjapur Road, exuberantly commemorated the vibrant Indian harvest festival, Makar Sankranti. This culturally enriching celebration aimed to familiarize our young learners with the profound significance of harvest festivals in India while fostering a sense of gratitude, communal harmony, and cultural appreciation.
To elevate the festive ambiance, children donned traditional Indian attire, radiating a captivating blend of heritage and festivity. The event was a kaleidoscope of artistic expression as our Montessori students enthusiastically engaged in harvest-themed crafts, including kites, clay pots, bonfires, and sugarcane crafts, each symbolizing different aspects of India’s agrarian traditions.
A key highlight of the event was the enthralling folk dance performances representing diverse regional celebrations across India. The children gracefully showcased Bihu from Assam, Pongal from Tamil Nadu, Sankranti from Karnataka, Lohri from Punjab, and the Kite Festival from Rajasthan, illustrating the cultural diversity that unites India through its agrarian legacy.
The Makar Sankranti celebrations at BRS Global School’s Montessori section were an undeniable success, as the young learners thoroughly immersed themselves in the joyous festivities. Through this event, we reinforced the values of community bonding, seasonal appreciation, and cultural diversity, ensuring a memorable and impactful learning experience for our students.
