Career decisions play a pivotal role in shaping the future, growth and development of students. In today’s environment of multiple options, knowing about choices available helps children in their decision-making process. Keeping this in mind, BRS Global School organised a career counseling session for Parents and Students of Grade IX and X on 17 December, 2022 in the school auditorium, to make them aware about various opportunities and trends in the field of Science, Commerce and Humanities.

The session commenced with a welcome speech by Mrs. Dr. Sudha Shankar followed by a brief introduction of the resource person Mrs. Jaicy George. With a plethora of career options available in the contemporary times, the resource person suggested various ways to opt for suitable subjects for a career in one’s life depending on their capabilities and potential. She talked about how to focus on the chosen subjects and what are the efforts to be put in to make their dream come true. She explained by giving examples of various successful people how they achieved their status inspite having lack of facilities and financial support.

Mrs. Jaicy emphasised that one must have in-depth knowledge of the choices lest one might end up in a career that is not made for one. It is common among students going through this transition phase to get influenced by misinformation and end up making wrong decisions. She also urged the students not to make decisions based on peer- pressure. Students were made aware of the different streams available in our school for Grade XI-XII and courses they could pursue based on the subject choices they would make.

Queries raised by the students and parents were addressed by the resource person. Mrs. Jaicy motivated the students to be confident and communicative in life. Besides hardwork, time management and focus on the line opted are important aspects to be taken care of. All the students and parents were highly motivated as they got to know about various opportunities that await them.

Overall, this session was immensely enriching and interesting. Along with the Parents and Students, The Management, our Madam Principal Mrs. Manjula B V and the Teachers also graced the session.
